Promo Codes & Discounts
How to create, configure, and manage promo codes for ticket discounts at your event.
What a Promo Code Is
A promo code is a unique code a buyer enters on the payment page to get a discount. Promo codes are tied to a specific event and let you:
- Offer discounts to particular groups (students, partners, subscribers)
- Run time-limited promotions
- Create special early-booking offers
Where to Find Promo Codes
Portal → Your event → "Promo codes"
Creating a Promo Code
Click "Create promo code" and fill in the settings:
Code Name
This is the word or phrase the buyer enters on the payment page — for example SUMMER2024 or VIP. Use uppercase Latin letters, digits, and hyphens. Length: 3 to 30 characters.
Discount Type
- Percentage (%) — a percentage off the order total. For example, 20% off a €50 order gives a €10 discount
- Fixed amount — a specific amount in the event currency. For example, €15 off the whole order
Maximum Uses
Limit how many times the code can be applied. Leave it empty for unlimited use. Once the limit is reached, the code automatically stops working.
Validity Period
- Valid from — the date and time the code activates
- Valid until — the date and time the code expires
If you don't set a period, the code stays active indefinitely until you deactivate it.
Promo Code Status
- Active — the code is accepted at checkout
- Inactive — the code has been turned off manually
- An expired code, or one that has hit its usage limit, also stops working automatically
You can activate or deactivate any code at any time from the promo code list.
Discount Limits
A promo code can't reduce an order below zero. If the discount is larger than the order amount, the buyer pays 0 (a free order doesn't require Stripe).
Usage Statistics
In the promo code list, each code shows a "Uses" counter — how many times the code has been successfully applied.

FAQ
Can I create a promo code for one specific ticket type?
No. A promo code applies to the whole order, not to an individual ticket type.
What happens if a buyer enters an expired code?
The system shows an error: "Promo code is invalid or expired." The buyer can complete the purchase without the discount or try a different code.
Can I edit a promo code after creating it?
Yes. You can change any setting — the name, discount type and amount, usage limit, validity period — and activate or deactivate the code.
How do I share a promo code with just one audience?
TixFlow doesn't send promo codes automatically. You distribute the code to the right audience yourself — by email campaign, on social media, or directly.
Are promo codes reflected in payout reports?
Yes. Each order's details show the discount amount applied. The order export has a separate column with the code and the discount amount.
