Tracking Links

A short link of its own for every sales channel – a story, a poster, a mailing – with clicks, orders, revenue and conversion counted for each.

What a Tracking Link Is

A tracking link is a short address such as tixflow.org/r/8tr4f6ru that leads to your event page. Create one for each channel you sell through – Instagram stories, a club poster, a newsletter, a partner's chat – and TixFlow counts what each channel brings:

  • Clicks – how many times the link was opened (bots and link previews are not counted)
  • Orders and tickets bought after opening it
  • Revenue and refunds of those orders
  • Conversion – orders per click

Tracking links are useful without any promoters: they simply tell you which channel sells. Promoters get links of their own – see Promoters.

Where It's Set

Portal → Analytics → Traffic sources

Each event also has its own Traffic sources tab, showing only that event's links.

Anyone who may edit the event can create its links. A link for your whole organizer page can be created only by the organizer's owner or an organizer editor.

Creating a Link

  1. Open Analytics → Traffic sources
  2. Click Create link
  3. Choose the Event – or Whole organizer page for a link to your organizer page with all your events (on an event's own tab the event is already chosen)
  4. In Channel, name it the way you will recognise it later, e.g. "Instagram stories"
  5. Click Create link
  6. Copy the link and use it in that channel only

The code in a link is generated and never changes, so a link stays valid after it has been printed.

QR Code for Print

Every link has a QR code: QR · PNG for most uses, QR · SVG for a printer that wants vectors. A scan counts exactly like a click on the link, so a poster's QR code shows how many people the poster brought.

How a Sale Is Counted

  • The visitor's link is remembered for their visit. If they accepted marketing cookies, it is remembered for 30 days, so a purchase a few days later still counts.
  • If a visitor opened several of your links, the last one clicked gets the sale.
  • A promo code bound to a link beats any click – see below.
  • Only online purchases are counted. Door sales, Tap to Pay and the guest list are never attributed to a link.
  • The link is fixed on the order at payment; later changes to links do not move past orders.

A link for the whole organizer page counts the orders of the events you are looking at, while its clicks are its own.

Promo Codes for Channels Without a Link

A podcast or a radio spot cannot carry a link. Create a promo code, and on the Promocodes page choose its Channel – one of the event's tracking links. Anyone who enters the code is counted to that channel, whatever they clicked before. The code's discount does not change, and it works for anyone who enters it: the channel only decides whom the sale is counted for. See Promo Codes.

Archiving a Link

When a campaign is over, Archive the link. It keeps opening the event page – a poster on the wall still works – but counts no clicks and no new orders, a promo code bound to it included. Its history stays. Archived links stay in the table below the live ones, marked Archived, and can be Restored.

Statistics and Export

The tracking links table can be filtered by events – one or several at once – and by period. Days are counted in UTC, and a period also includes past events. Download CSV exports the table as shown.

Orders that came without any tracking link are still grouped by their traffic source below the links, as before.

Each order also carries its tracking link in the API for your CRM (trackingLink).

FAQ

Does a tracking link change the ticket price?
No. A link only counts where the sale came from; buyers pay the usual price. A discount comes only from a promo code.

Why does the link show fewer clicks than my social network reports?
TixFlow counts real openings of the link and leaves out bots and link previews. Social networks often count views or taps on the post instead.

Can I change a link’s address?
No. The code is generated once and never changes, so printed posters keep working. For a new channel, create a new link.

Are door sales counted to a link?
No. Only online purchases are counted. Door sales, Tap to Pay and the guest list are never attributed to a link.

What if a visitor opened two of my links?
The last link clicked before paying gets the sale. A promo code bound to a link beats any click.
